Forbes "Attack of the Blogs"

Daniel Lyons in the mid-November edition of Forbes has an article called Attack of the Blogs. I am not sure what he is trying to get at. He details, mostly business related, a set of blogs and blog tactics that have been used to discredit companies. In one case he talks about an anonymous blogger that went after a company with false allegations. OK, so something that Forbes claims is growing by 100,000 per day would certainly have some bad or irresponsible actors. But here is the rub. The blogger that Lyons focusses on is in court facing some pretty serious civil action. It did take a bit of detective work to hunt this seeming scumbag down but in the end the issue got before the courts. And no, the vehicle for the blog (in this case Yahoo or Google) were not willing to give the scum up.

Lyons does not give a fair or accurate portrayal of the blogosphere. Do blogs offer something between the daily diaries of a bunch of people and vicious hit sites? Of course. Why not cover the the whole story?
